About DVD-R disks: Due to costs and storage requirements, many older show that we sell are on DVD-R disks. That is because the minimum run for regular DVD's is 1,000 copies. To stock every title in those amounts would exceed available storage space. Since we can make DVD-R's as needed, that is what we have chosen to do. Our newest titles are being made as regular DVD's unless they are likely to sell in limited quantities. Each disk package is marked either DVD or DVD-R. Some DVD players, especially older or cheaper models may have problems playing the -R disks. Please be sure that your player will play -R disks before ordering. If you are shopping for a new player, we suggest that you take a program recorded on a -R disk to the store and ask the sales person to play it on any players your are considering. (Many railfan DVD shows are on -R disks so it's a good idea to get a player that handles them.) Blu-Ray players seem to have no problems with the -R disks. The image quality of DVD and DVD-R disks is the same. |
